Save the date for BHE’s "Peace, Love, and Books" Book Fair running from March 23rd to 26th! Parents are welcome to join their students to shop during their class's scheduled visit.

We’ll kick off the fair with Family Night on Monday, March 23rd from 4 - 6 pm, featuring Kona Ice, Beverly Ann’s Cookie Truck, balloon artists, temporary tattoos, and prize drawings!

We’ll also be having Special Friends Day on Thursday, March 26th – a perfect opportunity for grandparents or other special friends to shop with students! Special friends can pre-register here. The deadline to pre-register is March 24th at noon. If they have not badged in at BHE before, please remind them to bring their ID and arrive a few minutes early. Shopping times will be split by student last name:

A-H 8:30 - 9:00 am

I-Q 9:10 - 9:40 am

R-Z 9:50 - 10:20 am

We need volunteers to help book fair run smoothly. If you would like to volunteer, please click HERE

Nervous about sending cash with your student? The convenient and secure eWallet lets your child shop independently and cash-free. Plus, you can share your eWallet link so friends and family can add funds. Families can use leftover balances to fund an eWallet for a future Fair or shop Scholastic.com. While creating an account, please also consider contributing to Share the Fair, the giving program that benefits kids at BHE who need help buying new books.

Steps to Setting up eWallet:

  1. Visit the BHE book fair homepage.
  2. Scroll down to the eWallet icon and click the “Get Started” link to create a free eWallet account.
  3. Fund the account by adding money with a credit card, using funds from a previous eWallet, or invite friends and extended family to contribute.

Lunch & Learn – Who Does What in SBISD

The Council of PTAs will host a Lunch & Learn (date TBD) with district leaders to discuss who does what in SBISD. Now is your chance to get answers to how our district operates and who does what! The CPTA and district will base the lunch and learn on the solicited questions, so this is your opportunity to frame the topics discussed. Send your questions to advocacy@sbisdcpta.org.

Primary Elections

Primaries are Tuesday, March 3rd. Whoever wins the primaries will appear on the ballot in November. There are many positions that directly impact Texas public education, such as:

  • Governor - appoints the Commissioner of Education (who implements laws on funding, testing and accountability, oversees teacher certifications, and exercises sole approval over charter school expansion and new charter schools); has the power to veto bills; has line-item veto over the state budget; sets emergency items during regular session; and has authority to call special legislative sessions
  • Lt. Governor - presides over the Senate and determines which bills are heard; appoints Senate committee chairs including the chair of the Senate Education Committee
  • State Board of Education (SBOE) Members - The SBOE writes and approves the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), which is the curriculum standard for all public school students; reviews and adopts instructional materials; oversees the Texas Permanent School Fund, and MUCH more

To review voting centers, sample ballots, and election results, click HERE. For more on who does what in public education, click HERE. You can also review a sample ballot and learn about candidates HERE.

It's Time to Measure More than Just Test Scores!

  • The Legislature recently passed House Bill 8 to make changes and add extra tests to Texas's school accountability system, but schools are still graded on just one high-stakes spring test on a single day.
  • Our accountability should reflect a child's full picture, and not be reduced to a single standardized test like STAAR (or any other high-stakes test).
  • To urge candidates that schools should be held accountable based on a system that reflects a student's full success CLICK HERE.

Thank you to all of the BHE families & businesses that supported the Bunker Hill Elementary 2025-2026 Underwriting Campaign! Through the generosity of so many, our campaign raised more than $90,000! School Safety Reminders

11/17/2025 6:00 pm

BHE’s top priorities are safety and learning!  As parents, we are partners with our wonderful educators in maintaining a safe campus that is focused on teaching and learning. Here are a few reminders:

  • During arrival and dismissal, car riders must be dropped off or picked up in the carpool line on the west side of campus, entering from Kimberley.
  • The front parking lot off of Taylorcrest is reserved for buses. Unless you have prior approval from the administration, please do not enter the parking lot during arrival and dismissal.
  • At all times, please respect the families and faculty who have reserved parking spots.
  • When parents and other visitors come to the BHE during the school day, they should ring the doorbell  facing the camera, and state their name and the purpose of their visit.
  • During lunch, visitors should sit and eat with just their student at open cafeteria tables, picnic tables in the Learning Plaza, or tables in the hall just outside the cafeteria. Please don’t sit with or give treats to other children.
  • Unless on yearbook duty, please refrain from taking photos of other people’s children.

We appreciate your support in keeping our children safe and ready to learn while they are at school!
