Advocacy Updates

Key updates on the proposed boundary lines for Bunker Hill:

• Walker Agner from the Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees addressed this topic at Friday's PTA meeting.
• Bunker Hill's current enrollment is 780 students and is the only elementary school that is over capacity in the district.
• The last district-wide demographic study was conducted in 2016. The next comprehensive analysis is slated for 2026 in relation to a planned 2028 bond proposal to rebuild middle schools.
• The Board will vote on the boundary changes on November 17. They can decide on the proposal as a whole or break out the individually proposed redraws (so it is possible to reject one proposed redraw but accept others).
• If you would like the Board to consider your comments or concerns, you are encouraged to email Board members individually (as well as SBISD Superintendent Jennifer Blaine) AND speak at the November 17 meeting. To speak at the meeting, you must register by noon the day of the meeting AT THIS LINK.

For years, our PTA has decorated the school for various holidays, seasons, school programs and events. That wonderful work will continue, and our new committee will spotlight even more customs! Landscape Architect Needed

The Beautification Committee is seeking a skilled landscape architect – or a lead with experience in landscape design – to assist in planning the beautification of our grounds. We’re looking for expert guidance to help us create a long-term vision for our spaces.

Honor a Teacher

Help us recognize a favorite teacher or staff member! Your nominee should be someone who advocates for all children and exemplifies the values of the PTA. From your nominations, BHE will select one candidate to present to the Spring Branch Council of PTAs for its School Bell Award program. He or she will be honored at an awards ceremony in February, where the district-wide winner will be announced. Feel free to get the kids involved, and solicit their input, too! The deadline for nominations is Friday, November 21st.

Fitness Week

Just before Thanksgiving, students will participate in Fitness Week, with fun and active programming during Specials. We will wrap up our Fitness Week with our school Field Day on Friday, November 21st! It is a tradition for students to wear the color assigned to their homeroom team! See the chart below for your homeroom team's color and wear that color on Friday!

Field Day would not be possible without your help! Please sign up for a time slot to run a Field Day station (AM or PM) or to donate a case of water. To be a chaperone for your child's class, sign up here. Thanks so much for your time and assistance.

School Safety Reminders

BHE’s top priorities are safety and learning!  As parents, we are partners with our wonderful educators in maintaining a safe campus that is focused on teaching and learning. Here are a few reminders:

• During arrival and dismissal, car riders must be dropped off or picked up in the carpool line on the west side of campus, entering from Kimberley.
• The front parking lot off of Taylorcrest is reserved for buses. Unless you have prior approval from the administration, please do not enter the parking lot during arrival and dismissal.
• At all times, please respect the families and faculty who have reserved parking spots.
• When parents and other visitors come to the BHE during the school day, they should ring the doorbell  facing the camera, and state their name and the purpose of their visit.
• During lunch, visitors should sit and eat with just their student at open cafeteria tables, picnic tables in the Learning Plaza, or tables in the hall just outside the cafeteria. Please don’t sit with or give treats to other children.
• Unless on yearbook duty, please refrain from taking photos of other people’s children.

We appreciate your support in keeping our children safe and ready to learn while they are at school!
